History Alive: A Journey Through Time is a not-for-profit family-friendly community festival held at Fort Lytton National Park. The event is presented by the Queensland Living History Federation and run by passionate volunteers.
History Alive aims to bring Fort Lytton National Park to life by inviting re-enactment and community history groups from all over Queensland to share their passion for history through entertaining and informative representations and displays for the people of South-East Queensland. Following smaller events held at Fort Lytton since 1991, History Alive has been held annually since 2000.
The event celebrates living history, our unique Queensland heritage, and the achievements of hundreds of re-enactors in making history come to life!
Abbey Medieval Festival
Transport yourself to a place where history and fantasy merge into a breath taking world at the Abbey Museum Medieval Festival. This premier event at the Abbey Museum transforms sunny Queensland into a medieval wonderland every July. Come for the exquisite detail of our re-enactment camps, cheer the jousting and falconry, gorge on the sizzling meats and fine mead, and leave with the taste of history on your lips and doublet. Our attractions beguile young and old, and won’t cost a king’s ransom.
The Abbey Medieval Festival is now one of Australia’s premier “living history” events. Medieval re-enactors, musicians and street performers from across Australia join in a dynamic display of life, pageantry and the drama of life in medieval Europe.
This event is run by the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, to not only financially support the Museum to maintain and care for its remarkable collection of international fine arts and antiquities, but also to fulfill its mission to provide quality education and public programs. The Abbey Museum holds many unexpected treasures, the evidence of human endeavor and creativity. Its collections have the ability to inspire, uplift, intrigue and inform. From Prehistory to the Industrial Revolution, the human story holds greatness and also smallness. The Middle Ages is a period like no other, that demonstrates the polarity of human existence!
